ions,
The Tim Hortons where we are going, is it 1035 Brant Street or 1220 Brant Street (based on Tim Hortons website)?
I think based on your instructions, it's 1220 Brant. Just want to plot it into my GPS.
Thanks. May

Haha, good catch! I guess the tripod can also be your third or fourth leg.

Janet

actually i'm going to bring only a short tripod and do my shots from a foot above ground level. a good live view with pivoting lcd was one of my main criteria when i bought my dslr last year.

So it turns out I can make it after all.

Does anyone still need a ride? Coming from Scarborough Town Centre.

Neither. It's at 2201 Brant St. Burlington ON, L7P 3N8. Burlington/Hamilton is Tim's dense. It's very easy to show up at the wrong one. Brant St. is only a few kilometers long and it has at least 4 I can think of off the top of my head.

Final weather forecast: it's to start pretty cool, warming up to a balmy high of -2

Hope everyone makes it home ok! The snow coming down the 403 from Hamilton Mountain was pretty heavy. Also hope everyone had a good time and got some great shots. :) Let's see them!

I've actually decided to wait in a parking lot until the snow eases off.

I don't think it's to last too long. Drive safe when you do head home.

I dropped off potatoeye and yeshvanth at the subway. they're safe. i skidded the rest of the way home. A great outing. After the initial slow buildup at Hilton falls, we hit the jackpot at Websters! Lots of fun for me to meet new folk too. Thanks chris for setting this up.

Thanks Chris. Excellent day from start to dinner. The drive home, that was INSANE.

Slow and steady was the approach. The 407 was snow covered but not too crowded. One or two people who should not have been driving, but over all everyone seemed sensible on the roads.

Then almost an hour shoveling the driveway. More snow on it tonight then after the BIG storm earlier this week LOL.

Oh, well. Thanks again Chris, and everyone who came, such a great fun group!

Daryl

Well I'm home safe.
My thanks to Chris for organising.
And my thanks to May for having me in her car after my passenger bailed.

Also much enjoyed the drive home from where I left my car :)

Thank you Chris for organizing this event. I look forward to the Fall edition so I will actually venture down the stairs of Websters Fall
I agree with Daryl the drive home was slow but not too bad. We were on the 407 as well and it took us almost 2 hours to get to Markham.
You are welcome Ben 8)
And it's so nice to meet so many new friends. Hopefully will see some of you at the Feb Social on Feb 24th!

I made it home. I actually had a nap in the back seat of the car, but the snow had pretty much stopped falling by the time I woke up. I really need to remember to bring my GPS to these events if I don't have a navigator, since I drove around in circles in Hamilton looking for somewhere to read the instructions on the phone, or for a familiar landmark. I eventually found the parking lot at the plaza at King/Dundurn, by which time I knew how to get home, checked the hourly forecast and decided to wait for the snow to ease up. If I had anticipated that much snow, I would not have gone for food after the shoot.

It was a fun day, up until the drive home.

Thanks Chris for organizing this event and Yi for giving me the ride. It was a nice outing and great team! Although the weather was bad when we drove back, glad everyone got home safely. Nice meeting you guys, and hopefully can see you again in the other events soon. - Janet

Unless someone beats me to it I will probably do a Spring Waterfalls shoot, but it will be late Spring, late April to mid May, no earlier. Too early in the season and everything is brown, soggy, smells faintly of poo and looks much like it smells. Pointless. Then of course another Summer one at some point, July/August.

For those that missed this event, or can't get enough ice and snow, Jordan is hosting an event on February 12th that includes a sunrise followed by Lower Decew Falls.

Finally got through my photos.

My group shot turned out smaller than Sapna's:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/ofermod/5432352807/" title="Crowd shot by ofermod, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5217/5432352807_3c64299360.jpg" width="334" height="500" alt="Crowd shot"></a>

And the stairs weren't as bad as two years ago:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/ofermod/5432342015/" title="Not so bad from the bottom by ofermod, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5296/5432342015_061d06831b.jpg" width="334" height="500" alt="Not so bad from the bottom"></a>
