I can pick you up at Fairview Mall (Don Mills Station).

Yay!! :D Thanks Catherine for the ride, I'll see you at Don Mills Station then :D

Chris, please update the post once you've confrimed the exact time & location for initial meet.

I believe my car is now full as I'm picking up alvin85 & piglet at Fairview/Don Mills station. I want to save some space for gear since my dog will take up most of the hatch space.

If you can get to Newmarket by GO or VIVA, you can ride in my car.

If you guys are going to Balsam Lake -- you may also want to take a hike or check out Indian Point -- it is accessed from highway 35 in Coboconk at Grandy Road --- take Grandy Road all the way past the concrete road - it turns into a dirt road - and that is the start of Indian Point --- there is a tennis court on the left hand side roughly 1/2 way -- you could park there - and take a walk down the forest trail - its quite nice.

My friend's cottage is right across the road from the tennis court.

Excellent.

If we end up back in Newmarket at the end (only a certainty if some people leave their wheels at the start point and want to carpool), I was thinking we can go to a really good Lebanese restaurant in town.

Lots of fun had today, even if the fall colors report lies.

Lebanese food good, and cheap. Definitely should return next time there's an event up in this neighborhood.

What do you mean "lies"? Was it not as colourful as they'd reported? Just curious since we'll be heading up toward that way next weekend....

Other than the % of colour change, the fall colours report need to include the % of deciduous trees in the park!

A very valid point. Felt a little ripped off at the 14 bucks per car for the park permits, and frankly little quality to the colour. Lots of yellow & green. Very little red.

Thanks for organizing the trip Chris. Thanks for the ride Catherine. It was a lot of fun despite the lack of colour. The Lebanese food was great. Good pick.

Turns out it was allergies after all. Darn ragweed! Off to work!

Should have gone the distance -- Algonquin was gorgeous last week!

Thanks for the trip guys!

One...ehh, two combined to be exact, of my shots from Sunday:

Image

Too bad we did not go to Algonquin though, especially since some people in a group have never been there.
Once again, my strong suggestion, at first opportunity try to make it to the park. Even in the late autumn this place is absolutely magnificent.

It remains on my list. Keep missing out, and would have been up there this weekend if I wasn't in Miami.
