Lightroom or Aperture are your major choices. The key is choosing one and sticking with it.

Both have free trials. Try them. Opinions can seem pretty polarised on the 'net, so be critical of reviewers. Ask questions here, the userbases here are more moderate than out there.

(BTW, I use Aperture).

I want to love Aperture 3. Being a mac / iphoto user, it seems to make the most sense to move over that way.

Is it still buggy? Can you watermark you photos?

Most of the bugs involved migrating from A2 to A3. New users should be fine.

Watermarking is pretty easy -- just set an export configuration.

In addition to the free trial, they have enough videos for just about everything:

Figs thanks for organizing. I still have to process most of the shots but here is a tourist sort of reflection shot

Great shot, good story and composition. I like the editing job.

Yaa, I used to have that problem with double exposures with those old film cameras, forgetting to wind the film and all. Luckily digital, or even a 35mm SLR prevents such user error.
Seriously Ryan, that's a beautiful shot.

That double exposure is beautiful, gives off an aura of history :)
