Hey Mike, well hope you're feeling better. You missed quite the show.

Met up with Ian after the first set. We were the only 2 guys with DSLRs.

Here's a pic or two:

Thanks for posting the photos. I'm glad you guys went and enjoyed yourself. What kind of settings and flash were you using? Was it very challenging technically? Did the crowd or band mind too much that you were there?

I wouldn't have known who Jonathan Furlong is so I'm glad you caught those pics as well.

I was hoping that the Hideout had enough par can lights so I didn't have to use flash. But alas, only 3 gelled lights - not enough light. The band had 2 strobe lights that they would fire off once in a while. So, I took continuous shots while the strobe lights were flashing. The 3 band pics above are lit just with the strobe light. For other pics, I used an Omni-bounce on my 580, set to 1/4 to 1/8 power, f2.8, 1/20 to 1/30. Not having enough ambient light made it challenging - to balance the flash intensity with the ambient light.

My friend came along & she knows some of the band members, so I got to talk to them pre-show. They didn't mind photos at all.

Maybe catch 'em next time around.
